To ensure proper development of your child's spine, a school bag must respect the child's back. Read on to discover the key criteria a proper bag should meet:
Hiking backpacks lack the necessary support – rule them out immediately. Ideal school and student bags hug the back; they feature firm, anatomically shaped backs, an adjustable chest strap, and padded, adjustable shoulder straps with a minimum width of 4 cm.
Experts from the National Health Institute advise that a school bag should weigh no more than 10 to 15% of the child's body weight. A lightweight bag is fundamental – but don't forget to consider its contents. There used to be a standard requiring a maximum weight of 1,200 grams for satchels and bags for primary school and 1,400 grams for secondary school. Although that standard is no longer in effect, Topgal school and student bags still meet these conditions.
Bright colors, reflective elements, or even flashing lights – this combination ensures your child remains visible even in poor lighting. Remember, in the dark a driver can spot a pedestrian with reflective accessories at a distance up to 10 times greater than without them. According to independent tests by the State Testing Institute in Zlín, Topgal school bags even exceed the standard for reflective materials by twice!
A manufacturer can claim anything about durability or materials – don’t buy a pig in a poke. Verify that the bag has passed independent tests. Certification proves that the product meets basic safety and health standards, ensuring it does not harm your child.
Topgal school bags proudly carry the Czech Quality certification.
A school bag should have plenty of pockets and compartments for books, as well as smaller pockets for accessories or snacks. It should also feature a separate compartment for a water bottle or a sturdy, waterproof base. Topgal bags meet all these requirements.
For children, design is key. Our advice: narrow down the selection to bags that meet both safety and ergonomic standards, and then let your kids choose. After all, the end-users are the children who wear the bag every day – it’s crucial they like its look. Experience shows that following fleeting trends isn’t worthwhile; while trendy heroes come and go, a quality school bag will last at least three years.
Design, comfort, and a healthy back – these are the three factors every bag should meet. The last one, however, is the most important. Choosing a quality bag that lasts and is gentle on the back isn’t easy. Email us at info@topgal.store and we’ll gladly advise you on what to watch out for.
Whether it’s 2.5 hours or up to 10 hours a day, over the course of 10 months, that’s how long a student carries a bag each week. And if it’s the wrong one, back pain and other issues will eventually follow. Even the best bag won’t perform 100% if it doesn’t fit correctly. Movement goes hand in hand with the right bag – so remember to compensate for long hours of sitting in the classroom.
The difference between a bag and a satchel lies in their construction and features. A satchel is single-compartment and reinforced at the sides, which results in a slightly higher weight (around 1 kg). It is suitable for the smallest and most delicate first-graders (from 105 cm tall). Our satchel development took a long time, but we’re finally satisfied with the result – we’ve created a satchel with all the best features of a backpack. In short, we transformed previously awkward boxes into an elegant accessory, complete with the patented Fidlock closure.
School bags for first-graders come in two- or three-compartment versions, stand around 40 cm tall, and weigh under 1 kg. They feature adjustable shoulder and chest straps that adapt perfectly to a child’s build. The lightest model, ENDY, is suitable for children from 110 cm tall.
We strongly recommend choosing based on your child’s height and design preference – you really can’t go wrong with any of our products!
When choosing, consider the child's age, height, and grade level. It’s possible that a first-grader at 130 cm might use the same bag as a fourth-grader of the same height, and a fourth-grader from 145 cm might need the same student backpack as a ninth-grader.
So, avoid tears – involve your children in the final selection of bags. When they participate actively, they’ll be much more inclined to use it than if it’s imposed on them. Be sure to explain why safety features, wide straps, and chest straps are important, but let them choose the design.
If you order a case along with the bag, hide it inside and wait for that moment of genuine surprise and delight when your child finds it!
